Crew Manager

Position: Crew Manager

Location: Athens, Greece

Contract: Full Employment

About the Company

We are a newly established and expanding maritime company operating a fleet of dry bulk carriers, backed by strong ownership and a commitment to safe and efficient operations. To support our growing team, we are seeking an experienced Crew Manager to lead the manning function and ensure the company’s vessels are staffed with qualified and competent seafarers.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage manning and crew rotations across the company’s fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with STCW, MLC 2006, Flag State, and Company requirements for all seafarers.
  • Oversee the recruitment, selection, and placement of seafarers in collaboration with manning agencies worldwide.
  • Maintain accurate crew records, certificates, medicals, and training documentation.
  • Prepare and monitor crew budgets, wage scales, and payroll coordination.
  • Coordinate with Masters and fleet management regarding crew performance and welfare.
  • Handle crew travel arrangements, visas, repatriation, and joining instructions.
  • Monitor seafarer training needs and ensure compliance with industry competence standards.
  • Supporting seafarer welfare, acting as the main contact point between crew and company.

Minimum Requirements

  • University degree in Shipping, Maritime Studies, or HR Management.
  • Minimum 5 years’ proven experience as Crew Manager (or Senior Crewing Officer) in a shipping company, preferably in dry bulk.
  • Excellent knowledge of STCW, MLC 2006, flag requirements, and manning regulations.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple vessel schedules.
  • Professional communication and negotiation skills, with sensitivity to multicultural environments.
  • Fluency in English and Greek (spoken & written) and proficiency in MS Office; knowledge of crewing software is an advantage.
