About the Company
We are a newly established and expanding maritime company operating a modern fleet of dry bulk carriers. With strong ownership and a vision for growth in the global shipping industry, we are seeking an experienced and highly qualified Technical Director to lead our Technical Department and oversee the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of our vessels.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the Technical Department.
- Overall responsibility for the technical performance, seaworthiness, and maintenance of the company’s fleet.
- Supervise and guide Superintendents, Chief Engineers, and shore-based technical staff.
- Plan and control dry-dockings, major repairs, and retrofitting projects, ensuring time and budget compliance.
- Monitor fleet PMS (Planned Maintenance System) and ensure compliance with Class, Flag, ISM Code, MARPOL, SOLAS, and all international regulations.
- Manage technical budgets, monitor OPEX and CAPEX, and report to management on cost control and fleet performance.
- Oversee the procurement of spare parts, consumables, and technical stores, ensuring cost efficiency and reliability.
- Conduct technical audits, incident investigations, and root cause analyses.
- Liaise closely with Masters, Chief Engineers, Classification Societies, Flag Administrations, and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to the company’s strategic planning regarding fleet expansion, new technologies, and sustainability initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Marine Engineering or related field.
- Holder of STCW Chief Engineer (III/2) Unlimited CoC or equivalent background.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in technical ship management, with at least 5 years in a senior management role (e.g. Technical Manager, Fleet Manager, or Superintendent).
- Proven experience in dry bulk shipping and handling dry-dockings, major repairs, and class surveys.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and team management skills.
- Solid understanding of international maritime regulations, environmental compliance, and safety standards.
- Fluency in English and Greek (spoken & written) with excellent reporting and communication skills.
