About the Company
We are a newly established maritime company operating a growing fleet of dry bulk carriers, supported by strong ownership and ambitious plans for expansion. We are seeking a highly qualified HSQE / Marine Manager to lead our safety, quality, and compliance function, ensuring our vessels are operated to the highest international standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Act as the company’s Designated Person Ashore (DPA) under the ISM Code and Company Security Officer (CSO) under the ISPS Code.
- Ensure full compliance with ISM, ISPS, MLC, SOLAS, MARPOL, and all Flag/Port State requirements.
- Lead the company’s Safety Management System (SMS), including updates, audits, and continuous improvement.
- Prepare and guide vessels for vetting inspections, RightShip assessments, PSC inspections, flag/class audits, and customer audits.
- Conduct internal audits, navigational assessments, risk evaluations, and incident investigations onboard and ashore.
- Monitor vessel performance in terms of safety, navigation, and environmental compliance.
- Develop and deliver training programs, safety drills, and awareness campaigns for both seagoing and shore personnel.
- Liaise with Masters, Marine/Technical Superintendents, Charterers, Flag State, Classification Societies, and external stakeholders on compliance issues.
- Maintain accurate records, audit reports, and compliance documentation for management and regulatory review.
Minimum Requirements
- University degree in Maritime Studies, Marine Engineering, or Nautical Science.
- Seagoing background as Master or Chief Officer on dry bulk carriers preferred.
- Proven shore-based experience as Marine Superintendent, HSQE Manager, or similar role.
- Strong knowledge of ISM, ISPS, MLC, MARPOL, SOLAS, and other international regulations.
- Demonstrated experience in vetting preparation, audits, and inspections (RightShip, PSC, Class, Flag).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Fluency in English and Greek (spoken & written), with strong report-writing ability.
